Privacy Policy — BookSync

Last updated: March 2026

Data Collection

BookSync does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers.

All data is stored locally in your browser using:

  • chrome.storage.local — for tags, descriptions, preferences, trash, and view settings
  • chrome.bookmarks API — read and write access to your Chrome bookmarks

Permissions

  • bookmarks — Read and manage bookmarks
  • storage / unlimitedStorage — Store tags, descriptions, preferences locally
  • tabs — Open bookmarks in new tabs
  • host_permissions (https://*) — Fetch website favicons

Third-Party Services

The extension fetches favicons from https://www.google.com/s2/favicons to display website icons. No user data is sent in these requests — only the domain name.

Inter-Extension Communication

BookSync can optionally communicate with Navigator via Chrome's externally_connectable API. This is used only to share bookmark tags and descriptions between the two extensions. No data leaves the browser.
