Data Collection
Navigator does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers.
All data is stored locally in your browser using:
chrome.storage.local— for layout configuration, shortcuts, preferences, and display settingschrome.bookmarksAPI — read-only access to your Chrome bookmarks for folder display
Permissions
- bookmarks — Read bookmark folders for display in boxes
- topSites — Show most visited sites for shortcut suggestions
- storage — Store layout, shortcuts, preferences locally
Third-Party Services
The extension fetches favicons from https://www.google.com/s2/favicons to display website icons. No user data is sent in these requests — only the domain name.
Search queries are submitted directly to the selected search engine (Google, DuckDuckGo, etc.) via standard browser form submission. The extension does not intercept or store search queries.
Inter-Extension Communication
Navigator can optionally communicate with BookSync via Chrome's externally_connectable API. This is used only to receive bookmark tags and descriptions from BookSync. No data leaves the browser.
